| Let’s see what’s new in the world today....... ***Nvidia Big news is the release of the Nvidia 8800GT, its common knowledge that nvidia holds the crown at the high end, but now the middle market GPU's are about to be turned over. Using the new 65nm fabrication this board looks set to do the same as the Ti400 series that we all remember as the enthusiasts dream years ago. Higher clock speed and shader clock than the GTS, memory bus is lower than GTS but higher than 8600 at 256 bit and an impressive 28 pixel vertex/shader over the GTS's 24 and the 8600's 8. Finally the theoretical fill rates of 42,000 MegaPixel over the GTS and 8600's 28,800 and 11,600 respectively. Pricing on this looks set to be around 130 - 170 quid this gamers dream makes more sense then a Jewish accountant. ***Intel buys Havoc. Were you looking at a stand alone physics card. Hold that wallet, Intel are looking to integrate this tech with its purchase of Havoc. We know that CPU manufacturers were beginning to integrate this aspect into the CPU freeing up GPU cycles, but with this development AMD have yet another hurdle to make in their track to a comeback. The tighter manufacturing of 45nm of Pernyn is upon us. Waiting to see the benches but this feels a lot like a stop gap and I have to wonder who would buy this with Nehalm 'round the corner I for one will be waiting, possibly for the first time. ***AMD AMD's Phenom seems to be suffering with low clock speeds. Sure they broke this arms war with hyper threading last time but with Intel now owning the optimisation battle, it’s not looking good. AMD may have blown their pay by the third day of the month buying ATI. Starring Sylvester Stalone....Rocky XXII! Trino [Submitted by trino] Posted by Screll on Sunday 11 November 2007 - 12:11:59 | |
